Sometimes errors and mistakes become more powerful and judgement goes wrong, but these four Olympians purposely took the wrong path to pave their supremacy at the Summer Olympic Games. Have a look to them and when they were banned from competing for their foolishness in events that believe in fair race and encouraging results.
Darya Pishchalnikova
Born as Darya Vitalyevna Pishchalnikova in Soviet Union the discus thrower emerged second at the 2001 World Youth Championships in Athletics and at the 2006 European Athletics Championships she became one of the top women’s discus throwers. She threw 65.55 meters and won the gold medal. Her personal best is 65.78 meters and for it she won silver medal at the 2007 World Championships in Osaka. She was to represent Russia at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing but was suspended later due to doping test irregularities. This resulted with her two-year ban along with six other Russian athletes for manipulating drug samples.
Ara Abrahamian
The American-Swedish wrestler has won two World Championships in the 76 kg and 84 kg weight classes and at the 2004 Summer Olympics he grabbed a silver medal in the 84 kg weight class. Later at the 2008 Summer Olympics he emerged third with bronze medal. However, Ara Abrahamian rejected it amid controversies ruling in the semi-final. As a protest he placed the medal in the center of the mat and walked away during medal ceremony. The International Olympic Committee disqualified him and stripped his rejected bronze medal too citing the behavior of disrupting the award ceremony. This resulted with his lifetime ban from Olympics too. For two years the FILA banned him from wrestling though it was overturned by the Court of Arbitration for Sport in March 2009.
Tyson Gay
The American track and field sprinter Tyson Gay is the second fastest athlete ever after Usain Bolt. His personal best was 9.69 seconds in 100 meters race. His 200 meters best is 19.58 seconds and this record has made him sixth fastest athlete in the event. He also become the second man to win medals in 100 m, 200 m and 4×100 m relay at the same World Championships at the 2007 Osaka World Championships after Maurice Greene. In 2013 he was tested positive for a banned substance to which he admitted the doping, but blamed it on an unspecified third party. He was banned for one year thereafter and his silver medal from the 2012 Summer Olympics was taken away.
Marion Jones
Born as Marion Lois Jones in Los Angeles, California the American former world champion track and field athlete grabbed three gold and two bronze medals at the 2000 Summer Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia. However, her medals were stripped later following a failed drug test to which she admitted to have used steroid.
